Last time around, my little sister, Tiffany, went full-on Britney Spears at the ROTC talent show.
Her tank top slipped, revealing way too much, and bam! She was internet famous.
The backlash was brutal. Mom wanted me to step up and take the blame.
She ended up a “pure” and “innocent” social media star while I ended up... well, let’s just say, dead.
This time? I’m back. I woke up the morning before Tiffany’s infamous dance.
When I slapped her across the face, her eyes went all puffy and red.
But she had no clue the show was just about to start.
...
I’m back.
Specifically, I woke up on the morning of Tiffany’s ROTC training camp dance debacle.
This afternoon, she’s gonna bust out a half-naked dance routine at the talent show and go viral. For all the wrong reasons.
Last time, she flashed everyone and dragged me down with her.
Not this time. Not on my watch.
I hauled ass over to Tiffany's dorm.
On the way, a bunch of ROTC recruits in their fatigues were giving me the side-eye.
It’s twenty minutes before formation, and I barged into Tiffany’s room. She and her crew were getting ready.
All her little groupies were drooling over her, gassing her up.
“Tiffany, that tank top is fire on you!”
“Girl, you got the body for it. I'm getting nosebleeds here.”
“You're like the queen of that whole 'innocent but kinda dirty' vibe!”
Tiffany was rocking this black, low-cut tank top. It was practically painted on, showing off every curve.
It was the same damn top she wore last time. The one she picked out just for the show.
I strolled in like I owned the place, no-nonsense. “Change your shirt.”
Her roommates looked at me like I’d grown a second head, murmuring about who the heck I was.
Tiffany just looked confused. “Sis? What are you doing here?”
I didn’t have time for explanations. “Are you doing that talent show thing this afternoon?”
Tiffany’s cheeks got a little pink. “Yeah, like, Brandon's gonna be there, too.”
I frowned, irritated. “Go change. Now.”
“Huh? Why should I?”
Her innocent act was starting to piss me off.
Was I supposed to tell her, "Hey, I’m from the future, and I know you’re about to flash the whole school"?
I fought to keep it cool. “That top is not appropriate for dancing.”
Tiffany went quiet, giving me this “poor me” look.
Her roommates jumped in, all fired up.
“Why not?”
“We're adults, we can wear what we want!”
“Dude, you're being a total buzzkill.”
Tiffany started to look like she was about to cry, all big, sad eyes.
“Sis, I always knew you didn't like me, that you were jealous because I'm prettier and have it all.”
“I used to do whatever you said, but not today. The guy I like will be there. You can yell at me, but I'm not changing.”
Her crew gasped and started whispering about how I was a monster, holding Tiffany down.
“OMG, does she always bully Tiffany like that?”
“Poor Tiffany, having to deal with her.”
I couldn't stand their whiny voices.
I stepped forward and tugged gently at Tiffany's necklin...
