I grew up in a monastery, as the superior general of the Serenity Monastery, and the true daughter of the Williams family.
My biological parents begrudgingly took me back home.
Yet, I saw several misfortune spirits clinging to them; calamity was looming.
They ignored my warnings and kicked me out.
Later, I became a legend, my fortune-telling and divinations always spot-on. They knelt and begged for my help.
I raised an eyebrow, "Where was this humility before?"

I was sweeping the steps of the monastery when I spotted a couple and a girl watching me from a distance.
I assumed they were seekers in need of help.
Unexpectedly, the man approached me with a forced smile, "Dear, we are your real parents. Come home with us."
But I could see the disdain in his eyes.
The other two stayed back, wearing masks and looking around with contempt.
As if the monastery was filthy, not daring to come closer.
I didn't want to go with them because I could see each of them surrounded by several misfortune spirits.
Disaster was imminent.
But Abbot urged me to go, "You should experience the world beyond the monastery. This is a trial you must face. Don't worry about me."

We arrived at the Williams' residence, a new-looking mansion.
But as soon as I entered, something felt off.
The air was heavy with negative energy. I picked up some soil from the yard and sniffed it, confirming that the place used to be a burial ground.
Though the coffins were removed, the deep-seated resentment of the deceased lingered, making it unsuitable for living.
No wonder they attracted misfortune spirits.
"This place isn't fit for living. You should move out immediately, or something terrible will happen."
Mrs. Williams angrily shoved me to the ground. "You jinx! How dare you curse us the moment you arrive? We worked hard to buy this house; there's nothing wrong with it. If we weren't worried about gossip, do you think you'd have the right to live here?"
The Williams family wasn't wealthy before, but Mr. Williams had recently landed several big deals, making them newly rich.
They wouldn't tolerate anyone speaking ill of the beautiful, affordable mansion they had bought.
But they didn't think about why such a nice house was sold so cheaply.
I got up and stayed silent. Once people are convinced of something, there's no point in arguing.
"Mom, Ella just came down from the mountains. It's normal for her to be a bit uncouth and ignorant of proper manners. Don't be mad." Grace patted Mrs. Williams' back, trying to calm her down.
Grace was the adopted daughter they took in after I went missing.
