I was bitten by a silver-ringed snake and my life was hanging by a thread.
However, my wife privately gave the only serum in the hospital to her childhood sweetheart.
I called her, asking her to save the serum for me.
She immediately blocked me and said, "Can't you be reasonable?"
I wasn't jealous of her childhood friend.
But without serum, I was going to die.

I died, succumbing to the snake venom.
Even as a wandering spirit, I still dragged along a blackened, swollen, and festering leg.
I stood outside the emergency room, watching my wife anxiously pacing around. As soon as the door to the ward opened, she hurriedly rushed over.
"Lily, how is the patient? Is he out of danger?"
"Don't worry, Dr. Russell. The serum was administered promptly, and the snake itself was nonvenomous. The patient has already regained consciousness, and you can go in to see him now," Lilly Bradshaw said.
I didn't know until the nurse came out that the person Juliet Russell was waiting for was not me.
It made sense. After three years of marriage, she had never been so concerned about me.
It seemed that she had never loved me.
Juliet hurriedly ran in upon hearing the words, and tears instantly streamed down her face when she saw the person on the sickbed.
"You scared me. How do you feel now? Are you feeling alright?"
Angelo Calderon shook his head and said, "Yes, thank you. But you should go back. You've stayed with me so late. Rodney Peterson will be unhappy if he finds out. I don't want the two of you to argue because of me."
At the mention of me, Juliet's originally joyful expression instantly turned cold.
She said, "Stop talking about him. I didn't know before that he was a vicious man. He could disregard others' lives because of his jealousy.
"He just called me and said he had been bitten by a snake and was almost dying. He asked me to save the serum for him. How disgusting.
"He knew very well that you were in a critical situation, yet he still made up such nonsense to deceive me. He is just jealous of you. How narrow-minded. How could I have been so blind to marry him?"
Juliet spoke these words in one go as if she enjoyed this way of mistreating me to win Angelo's favor.
Sure enough, Angelo smiled after hearing these words, and then immediately put on a guilty look.
He said, "So you just gave the serum to me. Won't he bother you?"
Juliet rolled her eyes and snorted in disdain.
"Did he dare? You have no idea how pathetic he is at home. He wouldn't even dare to speak against me. He's as cowardly," Juliet said.
When I heard the blatant disdain and contempt in her words, my heart ached beyond measure.
I used to believe that as long as I treated her well, she would be touched one day.
So, after all these years of giving her my utmost love, the result I got was that I didn't even deserve to live.
The snake venom left me in such a state of spiritual disarray that, even as a soul, it took me a long time to remember that my last phone call before I lost consciousness was to...
