I came back from the dead, and the first damn thing I did? I scattered my so-called best friend's ashes to the wind.
Last time around, that backstabbing witch got knocked up out of wedlock. Her boyfriend and family? They ditched her faster than a hot potato.
She barely made it through labor, bleeding out on the delivery table. With her last breath, she begged me to take her kid.
Being the bleeding heart I was, I caved. I dropped out of school to raise that brat, facing nothing but hardship and judgment.
Finally, when he turned eighteen, some Hollywood slimeball scouted him. Boom! Instant movie star.
Then, at the awards show, who struts in like they own the place? My dead-for-years "best friend," arm-in-arm with my ex.
I was freaking floored. When I confronted her, she just smirked.
"Congrats on passing the test."
What freaking test? My ex, that arrogant jerk, explained.
"Darling here is a billionaire's daughter. We weren't sure if you were after her money."
"Now that you've raised our kid, you can be her friend. A normal one."
"If you raise him till he's married with kids, then maybe you can be her best friend."
My head exploded. I was supposed to be happy to be her friend? Eighteen freaking years wasted!
I lunged at them, ready to rip their pretty faces off.
But the golden boy jumped off the stage and shoved me away. "Are you crazy? How dare you hurt my parents!"
I had a stroke right there and then.
This time, I woke up on the day she gave birth.

"Massive hemorrhage! Get Dr. Chen here!"
"Are you family? We're running low on B negative. Can you donate?"
The nurse was right in my face. I blinked, trying to focus. Then I saw it: the glowing "In Surgery" sign above the door.
It was that snake, Donna Hall, getting sliced open.
I'd been reborn.
I clenched my fist, my breath coming in ragged gasps. Donna was in surgery!
The nurse shook me, "Hurry, she's not doing so good."
I shook my head, my voice cold, "Nope. Not family. Find someone else."
She looked stunned, then rushed back into the OR.
I smirked. Last time, I'd jumped at the chance to donate.
They didn't even check my blood type. They just drained me, 400cc's worth. I knew now it was all planned.
I almost passed out from blood loss and was too weak to argue when Donna begged me to raise her kid.
Just then, the surgery light went off. The doctor came out, looking grim.
"We did everything we could. She's conscious; you can say goodbye."
I strolled in. Donna was lying there, looking pathetic.
"Sophia, why didn't you donate? If you had, maybe I'd be alive."
The nurse chimed in, "She thought you were besties. You wouldn't even give a little blood? She's dying! Don't you feel guilty?"
Donna faked a sob. "My parents and boyfriend dumped me. I have nothing to live for."
"But my newborn. He's so tiny. I'm scared. Sophia, I trust you. Will you raise him?"
The nurse sniffled, glaring at me. "So sad. You gonna let her die and abandon a baby?"
The two of them were laying it on thick. I felt like puking.
I'd...
